  • Overview of North Hollywood

North Hollywood, in the San Fernando Valley, is an eclectic neighborhood with modest residential blocks and the buzzing NoHo Arts District. packed with acting and dance studios, the NoHo Arts District is home to many performance spaces, including the restored 1926 El Portal Theatre. Sculptures of Emmy Award winners like Lucille Ball and Bob Hope feature in the Television Academy’s Hall of Fame Garden. Nearby, hip one-of-a-kind cafes, gastropubs, and tiki bars are clustered alongside vintage stores and tattoo parlors on Lankershim and Magnolia boulevards have the convenience of easily walking to grocery stores, theaters, restaurants, parks, and the Metro.  Even though this district spans a modest one-square-mile, there are over 20 professional theaters located in the area.  Although not all parts of North Hollywood are pedestrian-friendly, most areas have significantly improved their overall walkability in recent years.  The development of new condominiums and residential apartments is clear that North Hollywood aims to create a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere like Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA).
